FELLOWSHIPS/GRANTS AWARDED:

“Fourth Estate and Third Sector” fellowship program

Sponsored by the University of Mississippi, Department of Journalism

Held at the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Miss.

May 20-24, 2004

A five-day fellowship-only program funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to give reporters, editors and producers at news organizations an insider's understanding of the legal environment that tax-exempt organizations operate within. This issue is especially poignant as 927 groups battle for political clout, while other nonprofits are linked to the  funding of terrorist operations.

Screenwriting Expo 5

I am no deluded, wanna-be screenwriter. But I believe the analysis and character development demanded for film writing may make it the highest form of the writing craft. This annual event brings together nearly 4,000 writers, writer-directors, screenwriting teachers, production company development executives, and script analysts to share their passion for writing and film. The Screenwriting Expo is lots of fun and provides an interesting writing perspective.
